Today was another amazingly nice, warm day. Skies were mostly sunny all day, with cloud cover increasing progressively throughout the day. By around 8-9pm it started to rain a little and has continued on and off up to this point (around 10pm). The current conditions map below shows scattered precipitation in our area and to our west. The rain could continue through tomorrow.

It was an absolutely amazing day out yet again today. The skies were clear and sunny while the temperature skirted close to 80 F. The surface map below shows some scattered precipitation over Nebraska and Kansas right now. The jet stream map below that suggests that the jet stream could possibly track this precipitation our way sometime tomorrow. The chance is low, but it is a possibility. Temperatures will likely reach into the middle 70s yet again.

Today seemed like a repeat of last Monday. It was all clear skies with a high around 70 F, which made for a very nice day. The surface map below shows that we are between areas of high pressure to our SW and our NE. This should make for conditions similar to that of today tomorrow and maybe the next day. I think we will all welcome a warm sunny couple of days.

As is to be expected with Wisconsin weather, we have seen an absolute 180 from the conditions we were seeing late last week. From snow and 30 F highs to sun and 70+ F highs in a matter of a few days. The nice weather is very welcomed in my book and I am sure many others share the same sentiment. Any area of high pressure to our west should ensure some more sunny weather for the next few days. Highs should also stay in the 70 F range.

Today was one of the weirdest days weather-wise have have every been a part of. It is May 2nd and we got somewhere around 8 inches of snow throughout the day. The map below shows that we are still right in the heart of the system that has been pounding us all day. Temperatures may be right above the freezing point so precipitation that continues overnight and tomorrow will likely be a mix of rain and snow. This was all caused by the trough in the jet stream bringing the cold air from the north down to us and making allowing the precipitation to freeze. Temperatures will likely warm back into the 60s by Monday so hopefully we won't have to deal with the snow for too long.

As I exited my house this morning I realized that today was going to be a much different day than the last four or five. Instead of riding my bike in a t-shirt I was forced due to the 40 F temperature to put a jacket on and the day only got colder with time. There was a little bit of rain this morning but it died off by late morning. The rain returned around 4-5pm and has continually increased intensity until now. The current conditions map shows a major system of precipitation moving in our area. The jet stream should push this system right at us over the next couple of days. Tonight through tomorrow night we could see significant snowfall of up to a foot. A little different than the mid 70s we have been seeing the last few days. I will keep the blog posted about the storm's developements over its duration.

Today proved to be yet another wonderful day in this string of beautiful weather we have been experiencing. But looking into tomorrow's forecast is seems as though the bottom is going to fall out, and fast. The jet stream map below shows that we are entering further into a trough to our west. This trough is bringing a pool of cold air down from the north. We are currently on the dividing line of the warm and cold air masses and we should push into the cold side overnight. The high for tomorrow could be up to 30 degrees F lower than that of the 70 F we experienced today. The colder weather will most likely last until early next week. But hey, at least we are all used to it.

The last few days have been absolutely amazing with mostly sunny conditions and highs in the 70s F. Last night I watched some cirrostratus clouds move in fairly quickly followed by mid level and then stratus clouds. There was a some rain overnight that lasted into the early morning. Today was partly cloudy with sun prevailing for the most part. The jet stream map below shows that we are entering the same area on the eastern edge of a trough that brought us all the precipitation over the last few weeks. This trough will also bring us cold air from the north that will cool temperatures down significantly after tomorrow, which should be just as nice as the last few days. The current conditions map below the jet stream map shows some warm air masses moving our way from the south that will keep us warm for tomorrow at least. The precipitation to the west in the Dakotas could make it our way by early morning tomorrow, but it is not all that likely.

Today was absolutely gorgeous weather. Sunny with a temperature reaching 70 F made it feel like we simply skipped Spring and went straight to Summer. The only clouds in the sky were some cumulus humulus (fair weather cumulus) clouds. We are finally out of the trough in the jet stream that prolonged the cold weather and we are now in a ridge. The nice weather should continue over the next few days. I think most would agree it is a much needed change of pace.

Today started out with stratus clouds covering the sky and it was a little above freezing when I left for school a little before 8 am. As the day progressed the clouds started to dissipate until the skies were mostly sunny around 3-4 pm. The image of the jet stream below shows that we are entering a ridge that should bring us some welcomed warm weather over the next few days. There is a chance of precipitation tomorrow morning but other than that the sun should show itself.

Today was a break from the precipitation for the most part, other than some snow before 8 am. There were status clouds covering the sky early that slowly broke up throughout the day, turning to mostly sunny by late afternoon. The current conditions map below shows an area of high pressure moving our way from the west bringing fair conditions for most of the day tomorrow. There is a slight chance of some rain in the afternoon tomorrow however.

Today was yet another rainy day in April. The precipitation continues right now (11 pm) and should turn over to snow soon and persist through the early morning tomorrow. 1-2 inches of snow may be possible. There is a stationary front to our east, essentially separating the state east-west. Between us and the front there is a system bring the rain we have seen and the snow we are about to. We are in the same spot of the jet stream we have been for a while, so the precipitation could continue through most of the week.

Yesterday's weather was a nice reprieve from the gloomy weather, but today continued the trend with more rain/snow. The current conditions map below shows a system of precipitation in front of the approaching cold front that is heading our way from the northwest. The jet stream map below the current conditions map shows that we are still in the eastern part of a trough, therefore we still have divergence aloft leading to rising air. The early part of the week should be chilly for this time of year, but we are all used to that by now. We might see some nicer weather later in the week though if this jet stream straightens out a little.

I just looked out the window and it is currently raining out. We are still in the area of the jet stream that causes divergence aloft which in turn intensifies any system that moves through our area. Looking at the current conditions map below, it almost looks like this system hasn't moved since yesterday. We are right on the edge of the rain/snow line of the storm, with the snow to our west. Overnight the rain should transition to sleet and snow but not much accumulation is expected. The snow could continue throughout the day tomorrow then we might get a break from the precipitation on Saturday, but then it looks like it may continue after that.

The weather in Eau Claire today was cloudy early with rain and sleet moving in around noon. The surface map below shows a large system to our southwest. The jet stream map below the surface map shows the jet stream bringing this large system directly out way. We are situated in the exact right position within the trough of the jet stream that creates divergence aloft. The divergence aloft causes the air to rise due to convergence on the surface and cool the air to its dew point by adiabatic cooling. There is also a warm front moving moving in from the south that should bring some moist air our way, keeping precipitation in our forecast for likely the next couple of days.

Today started with stratus clouds covering the sky. As the day progressed the clouds slowly started to break up, with the sky becoming almost clear by 3 pm. Even though I did not get to experience it too much, the temperature was quite nice compared to what it has been like lately with a high in the mid 40s. The surface conditions map below shows some precipitation over the border of Wyoming with South Dakota and Nebraska. The jet stream will likely bring this system our way by tomorrow night and into Thursday as well. Hopefully it won't come in the form of snow.

Today finally gave us a break from the relentless precipitation we had been experiencing throughout the last few days. The surface map below shows the mid latitude cyclone that was hitting us yesterday has moved northeast and is starting to die down as the occluded front shows. To our west is an area of high pressure, so I suspect that we will be seeing some relatively sunny conditions tomorrow and maybe even some seasonably warmer weather if we are lucky.

This weekend was a rather miserable one in terms of weather. Snow and rain have been falling regularly since the middle of last week. We are currently being subjected to the effects of a midlatitude cyclone that has its low pressure center in northwest Iowa. The winds are swirling counter clockwise aroud the low, bringing us winds from the east. The system will likely move through overnight, leaving us with some drier conditions for the start of the new week. Low pressure moving to our east will likely bring some relatively strong winds for tomorrow as well.

Today there was precipitation of one form or another falling all day. Snow was dominant in the morning with a transition to rain and freezing rain later in the day. The map below show some more snow moving our way from the west. An area of low pressure to our south, combined with the northeast wind wind direction suggests that we should see some more precipitation tomorrow, likely snow.

Today started off what looks to be a stretch of rainy/snowy weather that is likely to continue. The current conditions map below shows a large storm system heading our way from the west. It looks to be traveling along a stationary front that is tracking it directly toward the central Wisconsin area. The storm is producing rain at its eastern portion, transitioning to snow as it extends to the Dakotas. Precipitation will likely be largely snow over the next few days with some ice pellets and rain mixed in, mostly tonight and tomorrow.
