The last few days have been absolutely amazing with mostly sunny conditions and highs in the 70s F. Last night I watched some cirrostratus clouds move in fairly quickly followed by mid level and then stratus clouds. There was a some rain overnight that lasted into the early morning. Today was partly cloudy with sun prevailing for the most part. The jet stream map below shows that we are entering the same area on the eastern edge of a trough that brought us all the precipitation over the last few weeks. This trough will also bring us cold air from the north that will cool temperatures down significantly after tomorrow, which should be just as nice as the last few days. The current conditions map below the jet stream map shows some warm air masses moving our way from the south that will keep us warm for tomorrow at least. The precipitation to the west in the Dakotas could make it our way by early morning tomorrow, but it is not all that likely.

Today was absolutely gorgeous weather. Sunny with a temperature reaching 70 F made it feel like we simply skipped Spring and went straight to Summer. The only clouds in the sky were some cumulus humulus (fair weather cumulus) clouds. We are finally out of the trough in the jet stream that prolonged the cold weather and we are now in a ridge. The nice weather should continue over the next few days. I think most would agree it is a much needed change of pace.

Today started out with stratus clouds covering the sky and it was a little above freezing when I left for school a little before 8 am. As the day progressed the clouds started to dissipate until the skies were mostly sunny around 3-4 pm. The image of the jet stream below shows that we are entering a ridge that should bring us some welcomed warm weather over the next few days. There is a chance of precipitation tomorrow morning but other than that the sun should show itself.

Today was a break from the precipitation for the most part, other than some snow before 8 am. There were status clouds covering the sky early that slowly broke up throughout the day, turning to mostly sunny by late afternoon. The current conditions map below shows an area of high pressure moving our way from the west bringing fair conditions for most of the day tomorrow. There is a slight chance of some rain in the afternoon tomorrow however.

Today was yet another rainy day in April. The precipitation continues right now (11 pm) and should turn over to snow soon and persist through the early morning tomorrow. 1-2 inches of snow may be possible. There is a stationary front to our east, essentially separating the state east-west. Between us and the front there is a system bring the rain we have seen and the snow we are about to. We are in the same spot of the jet stream we have been for a while, so the precipitation could continue through most of the week.

Yesterday's weather was a nice reprieve from the gloomy weather, but today continued the trend with more rain/snow. The current conditions map below shows a system of precipitation in front of the approaching cold front that is heading our way from the northwest. The jet stream map below the current conditions map shows that we are still in the eastern part of a trough, therefore we still have divergence aloft leading to rising air. The early part of the week should be chilly for this time of year, but we are all used to that by now. We might see some nicer weather later in the week though if this jet stream straightens out a little.

I just looked out the window and it is currently raining out. We are still in the area of the jet stream that causes divergence aloft which in turn intensifies any system that moves through our area. Looking at the current conditions map below, it almost looks like this system hasn't moved since yesterday. We are right on the edge of the rain/snow line of the storm, with the snow to our west. Overnight the rain should transition to sleet and snow but not much accumulation is expected. The snow could continue throughout the day tomorrow then we might get a break from the precipitation on Saturday, but then it looks like it may continue after that.
